I'm sorry to say I was diagnosed with non small cell lung cancer on December 7, 2007. This journal is to update family, friends and loved ones as this new experience unfolds.

Brain and bones okay
Dr. P, my pulmonary oncologist from N'western Memorial, just phoned to say preliminary reports of PET scan and MRI of brain say the cancer is confined to my chest. Have a good weekend, everyone. I certainly intend to. xox
I am so sad to hear the news and at the same time so inspired by your strength. Thank you for the blog and keeping me up on what's going on. I'm glad that you have a wonderful support network in Chicago.
My love and prayers are with you. Although I'm not there to hold your hand in person, spiritual hugs are flying across the country.
Valjean is gone, but her blog remains. For now, I'll use it to post, one by one, the wonderful eulogies we heard at her memorial mass. After that...who knows?
In lieu of flowers You are welcome to make a contribution to one of Valjean's favorite not-for-profits: St. Bernard Hospital in Chicago, IL; the Delta Institute in Chicago, IL; the Prairie Zen Center in Champaign, IL; or Knox College in Galesburg, IL.

I'm glad you got some relatively good news!
Valjean -
Best of luck and I see you're approaching this as you do most things - with tremendous resourcefulness and strength.
I'm thinking of you and glad that there is some good news.
